The Archbishop of Onitsha His Grace Most Rev Valerian Okeke last Saturday, March, 20, 2022, doled out scholarship awards to 20 students who graduated from St Joseph’s Seminary, Special Science School, Awka Etiti.
According to the Archbishop, the scholarships were awarded in order to commemorate 10th annversary of the college after school hand over to the missions and 60 years of existence and to officially end the year of St Joseph ( patron saint of the school) that was declared by Pope Francis a year ago.
He explained that the best 20 students starting from the pioneer set to the current final year set would form the beneficiaries of the University scholarship.
In address , the rector Fr Anthony Okoye, rained accolades on Archbishop Val for not only reviving and rejuvenating the school through creation of seminary, special science status, but also for his continued support in cash and kind, for the up-keep of the students, and construction of enabling infrastructure, school plant facilities, recalling that in 2012, the school was a ghost of its own, marked by intensively dilapidated structures, thick forest, and home to different animals and insect, but today the environment has been turned into a beautiful school.
The rector also disclosed that academic performances of the students are superb, revealing that in last academic year, graduates of the school made 100% pass in all external examinations. He also stated that their graduates who proceeded to senior seminary out- performed their colleagues in academics and morals.
