More than 200 Catholic Men and other non Catholics during the week received lectures and tips on how to discover and manage Prostate Cancer which is said to have killed a good number of men over the years.
The lecture which was organised by the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha under the auspices of Justice,Development, Peace and Caritas Commission in collaboration with Tropical Medicine And Hiegene and Pink Health Foundation, was held at the Holy Spirit Parish Omagba,Onitsha.
Addressing the gathering, the Executive Director of Justice,Development, Peace and Caritas Commission, Archdiocese of Onitsha,Rev Fr Dr Edwin Udoye said that ignorance and superstition among the people have deprived them from knowing many basic health issues which would have helped them to cope with many health challenges especially Prostate Cancer.
According to Fr Udoye, the lecture would open their eyes on the challenges of Prostate Cancer and the early warning signs as well as the necessary tests and treatment needed to combat it.
Some of the health experts who lectured on the subject matter include a Consultant Urologist, Dr J A Abiahu,a renowned Laboratory Scientist Mrs Chinekwu Eche-Onyekachi and Pharmacist (Dr)Umeh Ifeoma.
Highlight on the event was free blood test,treatment and counselling.
