Key stakeholders of the PDP in Anambra State have reaffirmed commitment towards grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation of registered voters across the state ahead of the 2023 general elections. This declaration was contained in a release by former LGA chairmen, serving LGA chairmen, former state executives, and key stakeholders of the party in the state, during a crucial meeting in Awka on Thursday, convened on behalf of the party’s presidential candidate, HE Atiku Abubakar, GCON.Speaking during the meeting, the immediate past state chairman of the party, Hon. Sir Ndubisi Nwobu, raised concern over the seemingly low morale of some members of the party following the absence of a state leadership structure which would ordinarily have given directions for electoral activities heralding the 2023 general elections. He opined that “we cannot possibly fold our hands at this critical stage and allow this great platform die like that, just because the statutory organs of the party is [sic] not yet complete. Victory is the hallmark of politics and no group of people can achieve political victory by wishful thinking, when they have what it takes to actualise their dreams of winning and enjoying the dividends of democracy.“We have a presidential candidate who is most experienced, detribalised, competent, a lover of Ndigbo, a bridge builder and unifier, who has consistently chosen our brothers for each presidential ticket given to him over time. Atiku is eminently qualified to contest for the highest political office and is evidently one of the highest employers of labour in the country, so the task before us now is to give him support.”The members present expressed satisfaction with the timely and wise counsel of the former chairman, noting that without periodic meetings and logistics, motivation to sustain party structure and activities will not be possible. They narrated their peculiar experiences which were deliberated on extensively, and worked out a strategy to push forward pending further developments and directives from the national headquarters and the presidential campaign office.A major takeaway from the meeting was that the party must deploy every democratic tool available to it towards grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation of eligible voters in view of securing victory for PDP candidates across the board.
