As a part of gratitude to God for the gift of the priesthood and for the celebration of His 40th Anniversary, Archbishop Valerian on the day of the celebration announced his gift of scholarship awards to 90 students in onitsha Arcdiocese.
Trinitas gathered that the 90 beneficiaries now have a golden opportunity to continue with their education, courtesy of the Archbishop whose magnanimity, love for education and empowerment of the youths through various programs.
The scholarship distribution shows that the beneficiaries were selected from the six regions of the Archdiocese namely,Onitsha,Iyiowa,Aguleri,Nnobi,Dunukofia and Igbariam regions.
According to the Onitsha Archdiocesan Education Secretary,Very Rev Fr Dr Paschal Onwugbenu, the scholarship will run for the 2021/2022 academic session in the first instance.
Trinitas also gathered that over N3.7 million would be used to offset the scholarship in the first instance.
The Archbishop has been a trail blazer in offering scholarships to many students. He has trained many priests overseas on scholarship too.
He surprises audiences during occasions where he gave out instant scholarship to pupils and students who answer his questions correctly.
Through his AVOSCO scheme/Foundation, he has given out hundreds of scholarship in his avowed determination that the youths and children go to school to better their lives.
The Archbishop’s focus and principle of excellence has once again thrown up many brilliant youths in the mission schools as they have won local and international competitions.
Most of the schools which were deserted were renovated by the Archbishop and the standard upgraded.
The Holy Family Youth Village Amansea ,which the Archbishop erected stands as one of the great legacies of the Archbishop inrespect of youth development.
Trinitas hereby corrects the erroneous publication where we inadvertently published that 40 students instead of 90 benefitted from the Archbishop’s 40th priestly anniversary scholarship largesse. The error is regretted and we apologize for that.
