Governor Willie Obiano on 3rd of March 2021 presented certificate of recognition /authority to the traditional ruler of Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Council Area, His Royal Highness, Igwe Rufous Ugochukwu Ilodiuba (Eze Ohanyelu II of Aguluzigbo) in the presence of prominent persons from the community including Senator Victor Umeh OFR (Ikemba Aguluzigbo), the Traditional Prime Minister (Onowu) of Aguluzigbo, High-Chief Hyacinth Onwuneme, the President General of Aguluzigbo Development Union, Hon. Chinwike Mmadueke and a delegation of the chiefs and other resourceful indigenes of the community.

Presenting the certificate at the Governor’s lodge in Amawbia, Governor Willie Obiano urged recipients to use their position to unite their communities stressing that in every of such democratic process through which they were selected/elected, there are winners and the opposition/ aggrieved who are still bona-fide members of the community. He emphasized the need for traditional rulers to eschew all forms of discrimination in order to be able to lead the entire community to a greater unity and progress. Governor Obiano further assured them of his support and the support of the Anambra state government as they continue to operate within the ambit of the law guiding their office.

With this exercise done successfully, Igwe Rufous Iloduba (Eze Ohanyelu II of Aguluzigbo) becomes formally recognized as the true and only traditional ruler of Aguluzigbo as unanimously conferred by the people.

Senator Victor Umeh who spoke on behalf of the community demonstrated how elated the people were to witness an end to the rigours and face-off that usually characterize the process. He emphasized that the APGA government of Anambra state presently led by Governor Willie Obiano continues to regard as one of its priorities, the well-being of citizens; their peace and security even in the rural communities therefore urged the new monarchs to as number one citizens and Chief security officers of their various communities, support the efforts of the government in moving the state forward.

Other recipients of the certificate of recognition were Igwe Sunny Nwokedi for Achalla in Awka North Council Area; Igwe JohnMark Anyaoha for Ogbunka in Orumba South Council Area and Igwe Raymond Omoja for Owelle in Anambra West Council Area.

Other notable persons at the event were the wife of Senator Umeh, Chief Mrs Prisca Umeh (Osodieme), the Chairman of South East and Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, and the Obi of Onitsha – Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers’ Council and Ezennebo of Akweze — Igwe Christopher Okpala, the Traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu – Igwe Peter Anugwu, the Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo – Ichie Damian Okeke-Ogene, the National President of Association of Anambra Town Union (ASATU) – Chief Barr. Titus Akpudo, the Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Anambra State Chapter – Prince Emeka Udodeme (Odegba), Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters – Chief Greg Obi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters – Barr. Vera Okonkwo, members of the State House of Assembly led by Hon. Chief Pete Ibida (Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters) including Hon. Ejike Okechukwu representing Anaocha II Constituency, among numerous others.
