Anambra Government has intervened to significantly ease difficulties faced by motorists plying the bad portions at the Amansea end of Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
This followed a recent Anambra State Executive Council directive to the state Works Ministry to carry out urgent palliative works on both sides of the expressway as well as the old road leading to and fro Enugu State.
Already, the ministry had through road service providers, brought in several trucks of boulders and chippings to fill gullies created on the expressway to provide temporary relief to motorists plying the road.
The state Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, who spoke to newsmen explained that his Ministry was making efforts to drastically reduce the nightmare faced by motorists at the Amansea end.
He said that a number of earth movers were brought in to spread and roll over the boulders and chippings and these significantly eased traffic on both sides of the expressway.
According to Mr Ifejiofor, the drainage is also being cleared to allow free flow of floodwaters.
He, however, thanked Gov. Willie Obiano for his prompt response at ensuring an end to the plight of motorists coming in or going out of the state, stressing that before the end of the week, the current ugly experience would be a thing of the past.
