It was a full house as priests of the Onitsha Archdiocesan Presbyterium converged on the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha where the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Reverend Valerian Okeke inaugurated Year 2022 calendar to officially kick start activities in the Archdiocese.
It was a real happy beginning after the Christmas and new year holidays as the priests exchanged banters and prayed for a new beginning.
The Archbishop presided over the mass where in his opening remarks,he entrusted his pastoral works and that of the priests into the hands of God and intercession of Blessed Cyprian Iwene Tansi and Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Archbishop also prayed as follows;
“We pray God to bless our pastoral work with success,renew our oil of consecration,make us less unworthy of our exalted vocation”.
The Archbishop further prayed and said,”we pray also for our benefactors and benefactresses, all those among whom we work and may God bless all,that this year would be a year of God’s abundant blessings and favours”.
In a homily, Archbishop Valerian Okeke stressed the need for priests and the lay faithful to lay a good plan for the year in order to avoid pit falls and mistakes.
According to the Archbishop,somebody who begins a year without a plan is like someone going to the market without a list of what to buy.
He urged the priests and others present to prayerfully plan the new year to help them to move in the right direction.
