A member of the Federal House representing Njikoka, Dunukofia and Aniocha Federal Constituency Hon. Dozie Nwankwo last Saturday commended the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke on his various strides in education, describing him as an education friendly prelate who has set the pace in youth education, South East Nigeria.
The legislator hailed the Archbishop while appreciating him for doling out scholarship to the best 20 students who did their Secondary education at St Joseph Seminary, Special Science School, Awka Etiti.
According to him, the Archbishop has shown great interest in youth education and empowerment, an apostolate that is currently distinguishing him as the pace setter in that area, disclosing that hundreds of youth have benefitted from his AVOSCO scholarship scheme. He pointed out that the church, especially the Catholic Church in Onitsha Archdiocese has demonstrated high level of competence in school management since after return of schools back to the mission, a development that is already transforming our immediate society.
The lawmaker on the other hand stated that he has touched lives through his foundation known as ‘Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo Foundation’, disclosing that he regularly provides primary health care, educational support to his constituents, etc ” Outside these, I have sponsored motions, bills that have promoted good governance in Nigeria and in his own constituency in particular. “In have also done my best in the area of job creation and that is why my constituents are happy today and I believe I am doing what I was called to do”, he stated.
