A major milestone was laid in Onitsha as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province,Most Rev Valerian Okeke last Wednesday commissioned “TV Sapientia”,an offshoot of the Sapientia International Media Centre located at Sophina Drive,3-3 Onitsha,the birthplace of the popular Radio Sapientia.
Commissioning the multi-million Naira ultramodern digital television complex, Archbishop Valerian Okeke expressed gratitude to God that the journey started many years ago has eventually transformed into reality.
He also expressed his gratitude to the members of the board of directors and the entire staff of the organisation who worked so hard to make both the radio and TV project a success.
The Archbishop who titled his speech, “Sustaining Our Successes”pointed out that the successes achieved so far need to be maintained and sustained.
According to the Archbishop,”our effort is to build the culture of excellence.Onitsha has been known for great things and that’s what we are practicing in our institutions.To be excellent is to be of the finest quality”,the Archbishop pointed out.
He insisted that for one to be excellent,”you have to be committed as it calls for the right attitude and you have to ensure that the mission and vision of your values are sustained”.
He further stated,”Excellence is value driven.It is dynamic and not static.Let it be your modus operandi”.
In his remarks,the Chairman,Board of Directors of Sapientia International Media Centre,Sir John Odike,said the new television project did not come without a price.
According to him,some members and staff who started the journey had paid the supreme price and did not see the project materialise as it was being commissioned.
Odike expressed appreciation to Archbishop Valerian Okeke for his commitment and support to the project as well as members of the board of directors.
In his goodwill message,the representative of Governor Willie Obiano,Mr C.Don Adinuba,the state Commissioner for Information,said the Radio Sapientia has been a trailblazer and has been setting the standard for others to follow.According to him, Sapientia has set a standard for other stations to follow.
In his contribution,a former Secretary to the Anambra State government Mr Oseloka Obaze,thanked the Archbishop for bringing his vision from his global travels to bear on the Archdiocese adding that the “milestone will help us control our narrative because no one can tell our story for us.
Also speaking,the Managing Director of the Sapientia International Media Centre,Rev Fr Aloysius Orakwe expressed gratitude to the Board,staff, customers,partners and listeners of Radio Sapientia 95.3 FM for sustaining the radio up to it’s 10th anniversary.He gave special thanks the Archbishop of Onitsha most Rev Valerian Okeke saying that his presence at the event had boosted the morale of the workers.
Others who delivered goodwill message are,the Zonal Director of NBC Enugu,Mrs Ijeoma Obodo,the state Commissioner of Police represented by Onitsha Area Commander ACP Obuagbaka,Igwe Godwin Nwabunwanne of Abacha town and the Director of Onitsha Archdiocesan Catholic Women Organisation,Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike.
Many other dignitaries which include Sir Damian Okolo,Sir Jasper Okpalafuluaku, ex CWO Director,lady Beatrice Madueke, incumbent CWO Gen Secretary lady Chika Obike and the Managing Director of ABS Chief Uche Nworah.
Others are, priests,members of the religious vocations,representatives of Sapientia Fan clubs and other well wishers.
