A large audience of priests,parents,youngsters and other fun seekers had an overdose of entertainment when whizkid musicians and performers of the Archbishop Valerian Okeke Music Academy (AVOMA) staged a Music Concert at the Shanahan Auditorium of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha last weekend.
The event kick-started with a mass presided over by the Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev Valerian Okeke was represented by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Very Rev Fr Prudentius Aroh who celebrated with the Rector of the Basilica, Very Rev Fr Nwokedi Francis Ezumezu.
In a homily, the Rector of the Basilica commended the AVOMA children for deploying their talents usefully.
According to him,it is important that one uses his talent for worship of God and also for the benefit of the society.
“Use whatever you have to do good and don’t underrate others who do not have it”.
The Rector admonished Catholics to always speak out against evil where ever they find themselves and practice Catholic doctrines without pretence.
At the Shanahan Auditorium where the festival took place,a beautiful convergence of music and dance left the audience spellbound with array of musical instruments.
The AVOMA orchestra played various popular old and new numbers while the dance team rocked the stage.
In his remarks the Chancellor of the Archdiocese Very Rev Fr Prudentius Aroh who represented the Archbishop,expressed delight at the performance of the AVOMA Kids pointing out that music brings us to the presence of God,making reference to Psalm 22 vs 3,adding that anybody who has been in the hall has filled the presence of God.
He commended the Archbishop for making opportunity for the faithful to relax since most people don’t make out time to relax and drive away hypertension.
The Chancellor referred to the young artistes as priceless diamonds adding that the Archbishop foresees where they attain high level in the society and use the opportunity for benefit of the society.
The Director of AVOMA,Rev Fr John Ezeanowai expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for the opportunity and support to the academy and also thanked the parents for allowing their kids to be members.
