The Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese His Grace Most Rev Valerian Okeke last Sunday, February 20th, 2022 charged faithful to be compassionate and merciful as God is to us.
The prelate made the charge while delivering his Homily during his pastoral visit to St Mary’s parish Odorubbber Iyiowa Odekpe.
Reflecting on the theme ‘ Enter school of divine mercy and enjoy the mystic transformation and divine power’ Archbishop Val stated that anyone who believed in Christ will have mystic transformation and the power of God will be working in that person.
He further enjoined people of God to shun the life of retaliation as whatever battle and challenges in our lives belong God, adding the day we start showing mercy, God strength will be opon us.
High point of the event was confirmation of over 400 candidates .
The parish priest Fr Innocent Nwalieji in his remarks extolled the Archbishop for visiting them, describing him as a great achiever who has moved the Archdiocese to an enviable height. On behalf of his parishioners, he felicitated with the Archbishop on his 20th Espscopal anniversary. He also commended the parishioners for their cooperation , support and sacrifices, describing them as people of faith.
The vice chairman parish council, Mr Ejikeme Nwagbara, Ifeanyi Obasi ( Pastoral visit committee chairman),Mrs Dorothy Okwuchukwu( Secretary parish council) and Catechist Felix Chike Chukwurah in their similar remarks said they are happy over the visit of the Archbishop. They also praised the efforts of the parish priest, disclosing that he is doing very well.
Also the parish CWO president Mrs Oby Onwuzuluoha ( Decency) in her contribution expressed great joy over the visit of the prelate. She also poured encomiums on the parish priest describing him as wokerholic priest who has already opened their parish by giving them an access road.
