It was a celebration galore at SS Peter & Paul Umueri out-station penultimate Sunday when the auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha, His Lordship Most Rev Denis Isizoh paid a maiden visit to the people of God over there.
The historical event witnessed the blessing of the new church and a chapel built and donated to the out- station by Samuel Achunike Edoziuno.
In his Homily, Bishop Isizoh called on faithful to see challenges in our daily lives as Cross we are bound to carry in order to make heaven and not punishment from God. According to him, in times of tribulations, one may think that God is keeping quiet but He never does. “God is never silent and doesnot keep us quiet. Each time you pray, listen that you may get a reply from God. Do not be a religious prostitude”, the prelate advised.
In a welcome address, the Catholic community eulogized the prelate for visiting them, positing that his presence will attract huge blessings to their community.
Responding, Bishop Isizoh extolled the church members for their commitment and sacrifices, stating that the new church they built is a demonstration of their faith, urging them not to relent. He praised the efforts of the parish priest of Our Lady of Victory Umueri ( which the out station is under) Fr Augustine Okonkwo for acquiring the land and for building the church. The prelate commended the Chapel donor Edoziuno for building God’s house.
The parish priest Fr Okonkwo in his remarks, poured accolades on the bishop, describing his visit a special blessing. He also thanked the Catholic community for their usual support and cooperation.
The Chapel donor Achunike Edoziuno who spoke to Trinitas expressed joy for completing the project, disclosing that as a mass server at age 11, he promised to build a Chapel for God, adding that it is a way to thank God for his life and family. He charged fellow faithful not to be afraid in investing in God’s vineyard as the blessings emanating from such gestures are perpetual.
