Prof Gyorgy T Szeifert,MD,Ph.D is a Missionary Neurosurgeon at St Charles Borromeo International Specialist Teaching Missionary Hospital Onitsha.
Prof Gyorgy also belongs to the National Institute of Neurosurgery in Budapest,Hungary.
In a recent conference at the Borromeo hospital main auditorium,Prof Gyorgy,a Hungarian medical doctor proved he was really at home staying in Onitsha.
From the conference,I discovered that Prof Gyorgy has special love for Onitsha particularly the Borromeo Specialist Teaching Hospital where he touched many lives positively while traveling back and forth Onitsha and Hungary.
Prof Gyorgy, though a medical doctor whose profession is rooted in the sciences also believes in miracle s.
Prof Gyorgy is part of the miracles that have been happening at the Borromeo hospital which he acknowledged.
There are times when scientific and religious discoveries conflict and one struggles to reconcile the difference.
Prof Gyorgy while addressing his audience at the conference spoke a lot about miracles that has become the order of the day at the Borromeo Specialist Hospital Onitsha.
One of the miraculous wonders was the successful surgery procedure on a nine year old patient with Cerebral Tumor.Prof Gyorgy led the surgery team.
Gyorgy who counted the treatment and healing of the patient as a “miracle” pointed out that the “miracles” have continued since his arrival at Borromeo in many different ways and attributed it to the various transformational works the Archdiocese has done in terms of provision of state of the art equipment.
He commended Archbishop Valerian Okeke and the management of the Borromeo Specialist Hospital led by Reve Fr Izunna Okonkwo for sustaining the tempo of development in the hospital.
Professor Gyorgy was impressed at the gigantic college of nursing already functional at the premises as well as other projects around the hospital without borrowing from outside.
He spoke about the new male hostel project of the Nursing College sponsored by the Hungarian Mission,describing them as a “collective miracle” that were taking place within a short time at the Borromeo Specialist Hospital.
In a remark,the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital,Rev fr Dr Izunna Okonkwo thanked Prof Gyorgy for the conference and observations on improvement in the hospital.
Fr Okonkwo disclosed that more equipment and personnel are expected in the hospital in the area of dental surgery ad physiotherapy.
According to him,the Hungarian Mission have been assisting the hospital in so many ways and commended them for the much they were doing.
One of the speakers at the conference was Dr Maduekwe Francis.
