The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha was literally besieged by thousands of faithful who came to celebrate the Onitsha Archdiocesan “Day With Mary”,mother of Jesus Christ, during the week.
The Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke was represented in the opening mass by Very Rev Fr Stephen Ezeanya while the Chief Celebrant was Very Rev Fr Paul Ifedi.
Other priests who participated are Rev Fr Mike Akigwe who delivered a homily,Fr Anthony Chukwu,Rev Fr Barr Justin Ileka,fr Gerald Okpala among others.
Rev Fr Akaigwe while delivering a homily lamented the ceaseless bloodshed across the country which he said calls for urgent intervention.
According to him,Our Lady, the mother of Christ is beconing on all families to bring their burdens to her for intercession and to clean the land of all iniquities.
Many mothers he said are crying because a lot of their children are misbehaving and chatting their ways to destruction.
“Nobody has ever gone to the Virgin Mary and came back empty handed”,Fr Akaigwe said.
He described the Rosary as something greater than a bomb such that many warfares especially the hopeless ones have been won with fervent prayers to the Holy Mother.
Fr Akaigwe urged all catholic families to start the family rosary every day so it could bring them to conversion and encounter with Jesus.
Highlight on the ocassion was rosary procession and consecration to Our Lady by the priests.
