It was a joyful day last Sunday,30th May 2021 at the St Albert the Great Catholic Parish,Odume Obosi as members of the Parish Catholic Men Organisation(CMO) literally rolled out the drums to mark Fathers Day in a special way.
The event began with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Parish Priest Reverend father Damian Nwanna OP, who in a homily,reminded Catholic fathers of their enormous responsibilities at their various homes.
According to Fr Nwanna,the Catholic Church is holds much regard and respect for fathers who he noted have contributed in so many ways towards growth of the church.
“I commend all who discharge their duties at home and in their work places with the fear of God.
Some of you fathers don’t discharge their duties properly and this leads to a lot of suffering in the families”.
He urged Catholic fathers to endeavour to train their children so they can look after them when they grow old.
In their separate interviews during presentation of award to some distinguished guests and CMO members,the President General of Onitsha Archdiocesan CMO,Sir Ifeanyi Nnajiaku commended CMO members of St Albert Parish,Odume Obosi for their initiative on the special Fathers Day describing it as an extraordinary show of commitment to fatherhood.
He advised them to always appear on their uniforms during events to stand them out specially as fathers.
The CMO boss gave special commendation to Ide(Sir)Lawrence Omenkwu,the Ezenwayo Nnobi and special father of the day for all his contributions at all levels of CMO from Parish,Archdiocese of Onitsha,Provincial and national.
In his contribution, the Chairman of CMO,St Albert Parish,Chief Adolphus Obuna commended and thanked members of his Executive for their unwavering support and contribution towards success of the Father’s Day activities.
Some of the Parish officers present on the ocassion are,the CMO Secretary Mr Silas Ugwu,the Catechist Bro Joseph Onuh and chairman of the ocassion Bro Peter Enechukwu among many others.
