The Afreka Humanitarian Foundation,Hungary led by Dr Reka Fodor during the week distributed several bags of rice to the less privileged to help cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic sit- at-home order by Anambra State government.
The huge crowd defied instructions from the humanitarian group to adhere to the Social Distance protocol to avoid contact with one another.Many had applied sanitizers in obedience but became nearly uncontrollable and surged to the front.
A member of the group took time to help by lifting the bags of rice to the less privileged.
Vice Chancellor of Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha,Very Rev Fr Basil Ekwunife supervised the distribution which was done in an open space at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
One of the recipients, Madam Azuka Okwudili,expressed gratitude to the organisation for distributing the relief materials.
She also thanked the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke for inviting the humanitarian group to the Archdiocese of Onitsha.
