Dona Maureen Foundation a Non Governmental Organization founded by the late Engineer Donatus Umenmuo Umeakuewulu and his wife Dr. Maureen Umenmuo Umenakuewulu a Consultant Gynecologist at National Hospital Abuja and Vice Chairman Nigeria Medical Association FCT chapter has empowered about five hundred widows in Igboukwu, Aguata LGA the home town of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife a former governor of Anambra State and a frontline Igbo Chieftain last Christmas season.
Speaking while empowering the widows with bags of rice as well as other gift items in her residence at Igbo Ukwu Aguata LGA, Dr. Umeakuewulu admonished widows in Nigeria especially South East to always place their hope in God as well as have confidence in themselves stressing that with their hope in God and confidence that they must make it in life, that God will make a way for them to excel in any endeavour they embark upon. She reminded them that life of widowhood is not easy but admonished them that if they decided to believe in themselves and trust God that they will overcome any problem on their way just as she recounted the trouble she went through when she lost her husband newly and appealed to them to be steadfast in their trust in God noting that God who loves widows will always come to their rescue.
Earlier in a prayer session before the distribution of the empowerment items, Rev. Canon Emmanuel Nwankwo of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Igboukwu represented by Rev. Uchenna Nwangwu and Rev. Fr. Afusim Mathew Chizoba of the Congregation of Sons of the two Hearts of Love of Jesus and Mary Catholic Diocese of Ilorin has admonished the widows to always live a life that will please God by shunning fornication, backbiting, jealous, hatred and doing anything that will not please God adding that with them living a righteous life, that God will come to their help by using people to touch their lives just as the foundation laid by Dr. Maureen Umenmuo Umeakuewulu had remembered them
