Newly promoted Knights and Ladies of St Mulumba, Basilica Subordinate Council,Onitsha have been warned not to see the knighthood as a social club where members are hardly regimented and behave anyhow.
The Grand Knight of Basilica Subcouncil, Dr Sir Gabby Nwankwo handed down this warning last Sunday while addressing the Knights and Ladies promoted to the Second Degree of the Order at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
The Grand Knight said to them,”Knighthood is a serious business and you should not mistake it for a social club.It is not and will never be.It is a serious organisation of serious minded Catholics who want to achieve heaven through the services they are rendering in the Order and elsewhere”.
“Therefore as we upgrade you to 2nd Degree after passing your exams and going through probation, you are now full fledged Knights and qualified to hold any office except that of Grand Knight for now”.
He told them that much had been given to them while considering them for Knighthood and that much was also expected from them in service to God and humanity.
He urged them to put more commitment and dedication to the Order and also be good ambassadors of the Order by living by example in order to attract more young people to the Order.
Sir Nwankwo further said that the Order is not a secret society and has never been adding that everything about the Order is done in public.
Those promoted are Brothers Chukwudulue Ebele,Nnamdi Ndibueze and Ifeatu Chinedu Victor and their wives(ladies).
Chaplain of the Subcouncil Rev Fr Francis Ojukwu and Vicar of the Basilica, Rev Fr Anthony Obi conducted the ceremony.
