The house member representing Onitsha South 1 in the Anambra state house of assembly Hon Uzoma Eli penultimate Monday put lasting smiles on the faces of Fegge residents as he handed over four brand new electricity transformers to four wards in the community.
The lawmaker who spoke to the press during the official hand over of the transformers disclosed that most of the residents have been living in darkness for years over lack of functional transformers, a situation that required urgent intervention.
The new transformers with 25 years guarantee he said will not only light up Fegge but will bring about industrial and business boom in the area, pledging to assist in the installation of the said transformers. “
“Speaking on his reasons for the gesture, the lawmaker described himself as a humanist who is more interested in achieving humanity. His words; “I took a history of Fegge and found that lack of power is one of the problems hitting the residents and I thought it wise to solve that age-long problem permanently.”
An elder in Fegge ward 4, Chief Emmanuel Ude who spoke to the press said they have been living without electricity for the past three years. He praised the legislator for fulfilling his promises by giving them transformers, describing him as an honest lawmaker.
Also, Fegge ward 4 chairman chief Uzoezie Chikezie in his contribution rained encomiums on the lawmaker positing that he is responding to the needs of his constituents beyond expectations. “The efforts so far show he feels the plight of Fegge residents who are suffering over lack of power”.
Other residents Hon Desmond Umenze, Hon Mrs Ego Augustina, Comrade Chinedu Okoro, Lolo Amachi Anyanwu in their similar remarks poured accolades on the house member describing him as ‘Nwakanwa ‘ who have wiped the tears on faces of his constituents. They revealed that he is the first representative that brought new transformers to Fegge, stating that he loved his constituents. They further promised him their maximum support, wishing him governorship position in the future.
The APGA chairman Onitsha South L.G.A. Hon. Ikechukwu Mofus Ezeoba in his remarks said the legislator is already fulfilling his campaign promises, disclosing that more developmental projects are coming to Onitsha South 1 constituency through Hon Eli.
The executive assistant to Governor Obiano Hon. Miracle Okwudili Izunegbu who is also special assistant to Hon. Eli in his remarks commended the legislator for living up to his campaign promises. He disclosed that the lawmaker had actually bought 7 transformers for his constituency to enhance power in the area, explaining that more three will arrive soon.
According to him, the legislator has also dug a good number of boreholes that will supply drinking water to his constituents, revealing that in a week’s time the water project will be commissioned. “Outside this, the lawmaker will also empower youths this year. It will also be good to remember that during Covid19 lockdown, Hon Eli supplied food materials to his constituents to ensure they didn’t go hungry. He also distributed hand sanitizers and face masks to save constituents from Covid19 pandemic.”
