Senator Dr Victor Umeh OFR on 13th of March continued his ongoing Local Government Consultation Tour in Idemili South LGA Secretariat, Ojoto where he was received by the TC Chairman, Hon. Don Unachukwu and the Chairman of APGA Idemili South chapter, Chief Joe Ezeanya (Ukwuata Nnokwa) who welcomed him extolling his unforgettable outstanding contributions for the survival of APGA and his impacts in engendering good governance both in the State and Federal Levels.
Speaking on behalf of the people, the former Chairman of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Prince Henry Ezenwa extolled Senator Victor Umeh’s consistency, perseverance and selflessness in working for APGA in various levels adding that he (Senator Umeh) is a key player in the Party and deserves to be honored, respected and rewarded in the Party.
Hon Ezenwa further emphasized that all other individuals who have indicated interest to contest the 2023 Senatorial Election do not have the kind of experience, national recognition and courage of Senator Victor Umeh and as such, would not be able to guarantee effective representation of Anambra Central and speak against any unfair treatment meted against the Igbos, without fear or favour.
In his own Speech, Chief Kenneth Okigbo ( Onowu Ojoto ) who welcomed Sen Umeh with a giant Ram thanked Sen Umeh for standing very firm for the Igbo people at all times and particularly for making Ndigbo and Anambra Central in particular proud during his 17 Months at the 8th Senate.
He assured him of the unflinching support of the Okigbo Family.
Similarly, a major Stakeholder of the Local Government and illustrious citizen, Chief Godfrey Obaobi (Onwa Akwaukwu, CEO of Gobison Motors ) disclosed that his involvement in present political activities is because of the popular wish of ndị Igbo to have Senator Victor Umeh returned to the Senate to continue his divine mission not only for Anambra Central but for the entire South East and promised to support his Election even financially.
Onwa further noted that Senator Umeh is a revolutionist; fearless and charismatic thus, he was able to make unprecedented impacts in Anambra Central and as well, became the reliable Igbo Voice in the Senate. He regretted the incidents that undermined his election in 2019 and urged the APGA Party not to make the mistake of not giving the Party’s ticket to Senator Victor Umeh.
“I’ll quit participating in politics if APGA fails to field Senator Victor Umeh for the 2023 Senatorial Election” – Ọnwa Akwaukwu added.
Nonetheless, a Motion urging Senator Umeh to contest the 2023 Senatorial Election and endorsing him as the choice of Idemili South was moved by Hon. Prince Henry Ezenwa and was supported by a major Stakeholder in the LG and SSA to the Governor Obiano Dr. Mrs Vero Okechukwu.
Other persons who also spoke at the auspicious event were: the Chairman BoT of Anambra Trader’s Association, Chief Chuma Eruchalu, Hon. Chief Ben Chibueze ( Ochudo Oba) etc.
In his remark, Senator Victor Umeh expressed profound gratitude to the Stakeholders for their warm reception of him and his entourage, and for their enthusiastic participation stressing them that the calls and solidarity by well-meaning ndị Anambra Central and ndị Igbo in general demanding that he should contest the 2023 Senatorial Election have been overwhelming and thoughtful. He assured them that as soon as the Consultation Tour is wrapped up, he will declare publicly his decision based on popular opinion.
