The Justice,Development,Peace and Caritas Commission, Archdiocese of Onitsha has commemorated the International Women’s Day at Awka,Anambra State.
The JDPC and it’s partners under the umbrella of ECID namely,CRC and HOGI with support
from Christian Aid and funding from UKAid mobilized community leaders, Traditional Rulers, rural women and the media to commemorate the International Women’s Day(#IWD2021).
With the #ChooseToChallenge campaign theme, the coordinating Traditional ruler of Omasi in Ayamelum LGA,Igwe Igwe Benjamin Okeji promised to review all harmful practices that dehumanize women.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs represented by Chief Onyeka Ernest Ebenebe shared all the wonderful opportunities that are available for women.
The participants were also encouraged to participate in politics by getting their PVC and not sell their votes during elections.
The women defied all odds and made names for themselves and shared their story to inspire others.
Professor (Mrs) MA Anagbogu,Hon Mrs Ethel Atuokwu,Hon Onyeka Enenebe,Princess Cynthia Enweonwu-Arinze, Mrs Ify Unachukwu and many other resource persons were on hand to deliver their lectures.
