…commissions new grotto of Virgin Mary and calvary cross

Excitement filled the atmosphere and environment of St Ignatius Of Antioch parish Odo Njisi 3-3 on Sunday 28th February 2021 as the Archbishop of Onitsha and metropolitan of Onitsha ecclesiastical province, His Grace Most Rev Dr Valerian Maduka Okeke paid a historic pastoral visit to the parish for the second time since creation of the parish. The visit of the Archbishop drew a jubilant crowd of Parishioners, friends and well wishers who graced the occasion to once again behold the face of the prelate and pray and celebrate the euchsristic with him. In the process, candidates outnumbering 300 received the sacrament of confirmation and also the Archbishop of Onitsha commissioned the newly built statue of blessing Virgin Mary and calvary cross built by Enughobi family.
In his homily during the mass, Archbishop Valerian Okeke adviced the faithful to imbibe the culture of exhibiting strong faith in the worship of God by withholding nothing from God and serving God wholeheartedly so as to receive the generosity of God which is above is given to God noting that when one witholds nothing from God, he will recieve the generosity of God which is translucent, transformative and which brings about the divine presence of God. The prelate further stated that in worshiping God, there could be mountains in the form of temptation but that amidst this turbulent stage only one thing will help in bringing the blessings of God, perseverance.
The parish priest Rev Fr Cyprain Eluwa while appreciating his guests poured encomiuns on the Archbishop and thanked him for yet exhibiting his fatherly love towards his children in Odo Njisi. He further in an interview described the Archbishop as a good shephered and believes his visit to the parish will herald a new era filled with blessings and encouragement to keep working.
The CWO president Hon Lady Ngozi Elezionu believes that the visit of the Archbishop will bring increased grace especially in spiritual aspect of life and the motivation to keep believing in God, grow in faith and keep trusting in God. She further adviced the confirmation candidates to always do the will of God while they become a good ambassador of Christ in the world by living a good life.
Representative from the family that donated the grotto and the calvary cross, Mr JohnPaul Ifunanya Enughobi thanked the Archbishop for coming noting that the gift to the church is in appreciation to God for his numerous blessings upon the family pledging that the family will do more to always show that appreciation to God. He described the parish priest as a good and hardworking man, praying for God’s blessings upon him.
