Joy rented the air today, Sunday, May 1st, 2022 as St John the Baptist Church Odoakpu, Onitsha is dedicated. In his Homily during the Mass, Archbishop Val Okeke described dedication as the total hand over of church edifice to God, stating that once it is done, the church becomes a Holy place owned by God.He made it clear that if any major construction should be done in a dedicated church, the local ordinary must give approval and after completion of reconstruction, there must be a rededication, adding that no other thing except celebration of Holy Masses and prayers, should be carried out in a dedicated church.
According to him, once unwholesome
things like shedding of human blood occurs in a dedicated church, that church must be purified through rededication. The prelate further reminded the people of God that they are living Temple, urging them to continue to shun sins like gossips, hatred, stealing, telling lies etc which are capable of desecrating that living Temple. St Paul he said tells us that the Temple of God is Holy and we are that Temple.
