It was a moment of joy in Awka at the weekend when Dr Godwin Maduka foundation building was commissioned.
Shortly before the commissioning, associates of Dr Godwin Maduka who graced the occasion gave a rousing and triumphant welcome to a man who has positively impacted on the lives of many people in Anambra state and beyond.
He was warmly welcomed by his teeming supporters and associates made up of different groups in the state. Among the groups include the trader’s vanguard for Dr Maduka, Students for Maduka, and Fans of Maduka and numerous associations.
In his speech, the founder Dr Goodwin Mmaduka who is aspiring to be the next governor of Anambra state under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) disclosed that the foundation was designed to lift youths and indigent people out of poverty to a greater height.
The philanthropist stated that his greatest joy was seeing youths being meaningfully engaged and that he is committing himself to build capacities for the youths.
Dr. Maduka who holds a PhD in Pharmacy and Medicine said the foundation was designed to give hope to the youths especially the less privileged ones in the society.
His words: “I will make sure that youths are gainfully engaged in Anambra State. It gives me joy seeing the youngsters waking up in the morning and having something doing. I have been training these youths in various institutions across the world over the years.”
“I will continue to build capacity among the youths so that when they wake up in the morning they will have something doing to become responsible citizens” he said.
According to him, the Dr. Godwin Maduka Foundation was primarily meant for youths development and has been doing that by giving youths jobs and training.
“The purpose of the foundation is to give hope to the Nigerian youths. The foundation trains and retains youths in various professions and we give them scholarships to study in various institutions across the world.” he said
Earlier on his way to the event, Dr Maduka made a brief stopover at the new zone 13 Police headquarters at Ukpo, on a courtesy visit to the AIG Danmallam Mohammed and his officers over the destruction of police stations and lost lives of members of the Nigeria Police Force in the state during the EndSARS protest.
He sympathized with the AIG and police for their losses and promised that his foundation would help in any way it can.
