The people of Onitsha South 1 constituency have continued to rain accolades on their representative Hon. Barr Uzoma Eli for commissioning of new water boreholes and empowering youths with shuttle buses during his empowerment programme that took place on 18th December, 2020.
Atleast not less than four youths smiled home with one new shuttle bus each , while two boreholes where commissioned and opened for use same day.
The APGA chairman Onitsha South LGA Chief Mofus Ezeoba who spoke at the event, poured encomiums on the legislator for keeping to his words and for delivering on his campaign promises, positing that his style of representation is unique. According to him, Hon Eli’s empowerment programme and community development is unprecedented, disclosing that within few months in Office, he has distributed electric transformers to Fegge communities, dug boreholes and now empowering youths with buses.
He made it clear that such developments have not come to Fegge and other parts of Onitsha South 1 constituency since the inception of the current democratic dispensation. The legislator he said is setting the pace in the area of community development and youth empowerment.
Also the leader Woliwo community Hon. Thaddeus Enyioha a.k.a Apiti Woliwo in his remarks extolled the legislator for the completed water project at Woliwo. On behalf of the community, he promised the lawmaker their unalloyed support, urging him not to relent in his good works.
Hon. Mmaduka Chukwulobelu and Benedith Onyebuchi in their similar remarks said the lawmaker is fulfilling his campaign promises. Sunday Obiekezie in contribution asserted that Hon. Eli has through the water project, put tears of joy on their faces, describing him as an honest legislator that has good intention for his constituency.
The buses beneficiaries Ikemefuna Ezenachi, Evaristus Osegbue and Sunday Obiekezie while thanking the lawmaker, said the empowerment package came as surprise to them, adding that they least expected it.
Also personal assistant to the legislator Hon. Miracle Okwudili Izunegbu who spoke to the press described the empowerment as a promise fulfilled. He made it that by early 2021, Hon. Eli will empower more youths and widows. Not just that, our dynamic representative will commence scholarship programme in 2021. He is also targeting about 50 youths that would be empowered.
The lawmaker while addressing the press stated that his main reason for digging the water boreholes is to provide the residents with portable water, explaining that those areas have large number of houses, yet with limited source of water. He promised that the water will run from 7am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm every day, explaining that the water is free. He urged the beneficiaries to keep hope alive, adding that whatever one needed to do to instill hope on people should be encouraged, promising to do more. ” Before I leave the stage, my name shall begin to ring bell in my constituency. In other r words, this is just the beginning”. Hon. Eli while handing over the buses to the beneficiaries told them that the empowerment is totally free.
Trinitas also observed that the legislator purchased big power generating sets and handed over to the communities to ensure regular pumping of water.
