The Onitsha Subordinate Council of the Knights of St Mulumba,Nigeria has continued to play it’s leading role as a pioneer Subcouncil as it elevated four knights and ladies to the Second Degree of the Order,today,Sunday,October 10,at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha.
Members of the Subcouncil led by their Grand Knight,Sir Gregory Mokwe trooped out for the colourful ceremony at 7:00am mass where the Chaplain of the Subcouncil,Rev Fr Francis Ojukwu,blessed their regalia while the Grand Knight Sir Greg Mokwe and other Senior members of the Subordinate Council robed and decorated the candidates.
Those elevated to the Second Degree level are,worthy brothers,Casmir Ogbunike, Alex Okoye, Bartholomew Ezimoha and Justin Ezeani.
In a homily,Associate Rector of the Basilica Rev Fr Emmanuel Nwabufo tasked the newly elevated knights and ladies to practicalise their new positions by showing others the light of salvation.
Fr Nwabufo who described a knight as a defender of faith,tasked the knights to always remember who they are by always defending the church and being exemplary.
He charged the knights and the entire worshippers to make God in charge of their time and money adding that those who do not make God part of their decisions in life are not worth calling His name.
According to Fr Nwabufo,”What God is calling us to do today is to love Him above any other thing.You must grow above that natural instinct of selfishness”,he warned.
Earlier in a remark,Chaplain of the Subcouncil,Rev Fr Francis Ojukwu expressed appreciation to the knights saying that knighthood is an honour to humanity to serve God.
Also in his remark,the Grand Knight of Onitsha Subordinate Council,Sir Greg Mokwe,expressed gratitude to all who made the investiture a success.He also tasked the promoted candidates to be diligent in service and charity to humanity and reminded members of his Subcouncil that knighthood is not a social club but a way to salvation.
