The parish priest St Paul’s Catholic Church Ideani Rev Fr. Dr. John Nnaemeka penultimate Saturday called on Christians to always love and seek for Christ the way Blessed Mother Mar did. Fr Nnaemeka made the call while preaching a sermon to mark the feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary. His words: ” To say that something is Immaculate, means that the particular thing is either extremely clean and tidy or that it contains no mistake; in essence it is perfect. And there is only one person whose heart could be attributed as such. That person is the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM). She was really, extremely, pure within which explains why the Angel of God, in Luke 1:28 greeted her in that manner; ‘Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you’.And to, always, be in this state of grace, she always sort to be in closeness to the Lord, Her Son.And the Church, in her wisdom, has practically made it so. For immediately after celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the next day we celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary. From what we could see, written in Luke’s narrative, i.e. Luke 2:41-51 , it projects the already established bond , Mary had with Jesus, which made her to, immediately, feel his absence. And she became very restless, and began to search for him. This could be seen from her statement in verse 48, Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been very worried while searching for you’.From this, we could see a person looking for that which is so precious to her”.According to the priest, the major difference between the Heart of Jesus and that of Mary in rest of their celebration is that the Sacred Heart of Jesus lays emphases as being full of Divine Love for mankind, while that of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is focused on the Love that her Heart has for Jesus her Son, and through Him, for the Eternal Father.Fr Nnaemeka further made it clear that the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is meant to serve as a paradigm for the way we should love God, by seeking for Him each time we move away from His path. Just as the people of Israel were being beckoned to do, in Lamentations 2:18-19. ” And in turning to Him, He will ever be ready to show his extravagantl ove on you, just as he did to the centurion, mother-in-law of Peter, and other sick ones in Gospel of Matthew 8:5-17.He charged faithful to always seek for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in every circumstances.
