…confirms over 200 candidates

The Chaplaincy and entire college community of Mater Miserecodaie catholic Chaplaincy was set agog on Sunday 21st February 2021 as the metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace Most Rev Dr Valerian Maduka Okeke visited the Chaplaincy amidst cheers and pomps. The college community including the staff and management, the students and well wishers trooped out in their numbers to receive the Archbishop of Onitsha and play a worthy host to the prelate. However, the highlight of the event was that administration of the sacrament of confirmation on over 200 candidates.
Preaching the homily during the mass, Archbishop Valerian Okeke reminded the faithful to be conscious of the season that we are in, noting that lenteen season is a period of Christians get closer to God, bond with God and encounter God. Lent is a time set apart by God through the church the church to come and get the strength from God through which we will enjoy God’s vindication and exaltation.
The chaplain, Rev Fr. Collins Ogbogu while appreciating his guests articulated his sentiments of gratitude to the Archbishop for his love, impact and blessings towards the Chaplaincy noting that the impact of the Archbishop is always visible and not hidden especially in making the life of the students conducive and stress free. Fr. Collins Ogbogu noted that the influence of the Archbishop to the Chaplaincy is massive and cannot be overemphasized. Also in an interview, the chaplain states that the visit of the Archbishop will continue to be a boost to the Chaplaincy and will always strengthen their faith in God.
The Director / Principal of the school, Federal Government Girls College Onitsha in a welcome address expressed gratitude to Archbishop for granting the Staff and management of the school including the students the privilege of once again beholding the sight of him the Archbishop as she thanked the Archbishop for his numerous gestures towards the Chaplaincy and the school in general.
