Nongovernmental organization, Dr. Obiora Uchenna Foundation, has petitioned the Anambra State Chief Judge, pleading with him to intervene in the alleged deliberate effort by an Assistant Court Registrar, ACR, Mrs. V.O. Osieme of the Onitsha High Court to frustrate its ongoing suit in an Ogidi High Court. In the petition by its Lawyer, Barrister Vivian Mba, the Foundation alleged that its client, Mr Jideobi Jekwu Hyginus swore an affidavit at Onitsha High Court dated 12th November 2021, adding that when the court demanded that the document should be certified, the ACR refused to do so after initially acknowledging that the document was in the domain of the court. The petition read in part: “On 10th day of May, 2022 the court assessed the cost and our client paid with receipt after the ACR sighted it. Suddenly, the ACR told our client Hon. Obiora Uchenna that the original copy of the affidavit was misplaced that she will not certify the documents. Recall that she earlier saw the original documents of the affidavit and assessed it.“My Lord I write you with great reluctant and heavy heart because our client Hon. Dr. Obiora Uchenna needs the affidavit urgently for a law suit No.HID/158 pending before Ogidi High Court.Because our client was unable to produce the affidavit last week in Ogidi High Court, he was awarded N20, 000.00 damages and the case was adjourned to 14th and 15th of June this month for our client to produce the affidavit from Onitsha High Court.“My Lord, my findings are that the ACR has maliciously removed the affidavit in order to frustrate our client on the case suit No.HID/158 and the defendant lawyer is insisting that our client must produce the certified copy of the affidavit.“May it pleases you, my Lord to prevail on her to produce and certify the affidavit which has been assessed and paid for by our client to enable him furnish the Honourable court with the legal documents in the interest of justice and peace.”Several calls to Mrs. Osieme to speak on the matter were not returned and a text message sent to her was not replied
