Traders have been advised to move into the shops and stalls built inside the markets for them by Anambra State government in order to save their lives from danger.
This advise came from motorists on the heels of government’s easing of lockdown which resulted to full blown business activities at various markets and it’s adjoining streets in the commercial City of Onitsha and environs.
Our correspondent, who witnessed such business activities along Nkpor New Parts Market road, in Idemili North Council Area reports that traders displayed their wares along the road thereby making it difficult for both commuters and motorists to get free movement along the road.
Speaking on the development, some of the motorists including Messers Tochukwu Nnaukwu and Joseph Odoh regretted the difficulties they pass through while conveying their passengers.
They stated that they have been advising them on the inherent danger of trading along the road and called on appropriate authority to dislodge the traders before the situation gets out of hand.
On their parts, another motorist, Pastor Christian Okoye and a buyer, Mrs. Ogochukwu Uwakwe condemned the act out rightly while warning that anything could happen, decried the traders’ inability to observe the stipulated social distancing and wearing of face mask and called for full enforcement of the rules.
Reacting, one of the sellers, Mrs. Felicia Okorie said that she is aware that trading along major roads in the State is against the law.
