A catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martins Edebeatu has ìnaugurated the newly graduated members of the Catholic Altar Servers Association of Nigeria, Holy Spirit catholic church chapter.
Preaching a sermon to mark the event on the topic tagged, “Never give up”, Rev. Fr. Edebeatu told christians of the need to remain faithful and steadfast in the Lord, pointing out that life is replete with temptations which we must overcome as Christ did for us.
The priest reminded the Altar servers that their new position of being called to.the Altar to serve God and man was a big task with its blessings and curse, hence the need for them to be upright in carrying out their duties in serving God . He also charged parents of the Altar servers to encourage them rather than being a cog in the wheel of their duty!
Also advising the mass servers, the Parish chaplain of the CASAN members, Rev. Br. Peter Mary Uduak Etim noted that the inauguration of the Altar servers to serve God was no mean achievement and they should remain sacred in the religious vocation. He also charged parents of the Altar servers to encourage them. In his speech the president of the Altar servers, Brother Francis Agbanusi expressed happiness for the inauguration of the Altar servers and urged them to live up to expection in their choosen career.
Highpoint of the inauguration which was held in the Holy spirit catholic church Omaba was the cutting of the inaugural cake of the event by some of the parents of the CASAN members and those inaugurated, followed by the entertainment of the participants of the ceremony.
