It was a historic event on Friday, 2nd October 2020 when the Nsukka journalists Foundation “NJF held her Annual convention and equally conducted a general election to elect new executives to oversee the affairs of the Foundation for the next three years.
The event which took place at Jerry Marriott Guest House Nsukka, Enugu State drew virtually all the indigenes of Nsukka journalists and featured famous “Ikorodo” cultural dance.
Also, the election which was free and fair saw the victory of Mr.Chijioke Amunadi as the elected Chairman by defeating his opponent Professor Nick Idoko.
Other elected officials were; Amaka Ukwuaba-vice Chairman, Brendan Uchechukwu Eze-Secretary, Agatha Agu-assistant secretary, Francis Ede-Treasurer, Jonathan Emmanuel-public relation officer, Bruno Aruma-financial secretary, Ikechukwu Odu-provost and Ositadima Ogbu-director of social.
In his appreciation speech, the Chairman-elect, Mr.Chijioke Amunadi promised the members of Nsukka journalists Foundation he would not disappoint them, recalling that his vision for the Foundation stipulated in the manifesto he presented to them. He further reiterated that he would run an open door and transparency leadership, pouring accolades on the NJF members for finding him worthy to serve them.
Commending the new executives, the planning committee chairman Chief Obinwa Nnaji, BOT member and Mr Ike Abonyi advised the newly elected officials to bring excellent change in the Foundation. They also appreciated the efforts of a renowned broadcaster Aka Eze Aka and his electoral committees for the hitch-free and maturity applied during the election.
It would be recalled that”NJF” was formed three years ago by indigenes of Nsukka journalists with the aim of; development, progress and prosperity of Nsukka socio-cultural zones, to ensure the free flow of information on community, cultural and development issues, to build beneficial linkage between the government and journalists of Nsukka extraction, provides a forum for the beneficial exchange of credible information among members etc.
