Governor Willie Obiano has directed all civil and public servants in Anambra State, including primary and secondary school teachers to resume work on Monday, 4th of May, 2020.
In a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government,Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Governor Obiano ordered that Pupils andstudents should still remain at home and follow Anambra Teaching onAir through online platforms.
It restated that all workers in the State and indeed all residents should procure protective face masks as it is now compulsory in Anambra State.
The release also said that workers and visitors will not be allowed accessinto the State Secretariat and other government offices if they arenot wearing face masks.
It urged all to always observe strict personal hygiene protocols suchas washing of hands regularly for twenty seconds each time, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, maintenance of physical distancing guidelines of six feet between people, avoidance of hugs, kisses andhandshakes as stipulated by the World Health Organizations and NigeriaCentre for Disease Control, NCDC.
The release further holds that these protocols must be followed at publicgatherings which should not exceed thirty persons.
According to the release, places of worship should follow these strictpersonal hygiene protocols before and during worship, including compulsory wearing of face masks.
The places of worship as stipulated in the release should not sit more than two persons in a pew, while the pew behind should be left vacant before sitting of congregants in another pew and religious services should not last long, even as it said that vigils and other forms of religious night worship are not allowed this time.
Congregants are advised to disperse immediately and not wait around after religious service.
Market places, restaurants, bars, bus stops and all other such public places must also observe the strict personal hygiene protocols.
Families are encouraged to bury their loved ones as soon as death occurs, in a burial that should not involve more than thirty persons during which the guidelines on social distancing and wearing of face masks must be strictly observed.
It directs Ndi Igwe, Presidents General of Town Unions, Community Leaders and Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure that the above guidelines are strictly complied with and enforced.
