As the year 2021 gradually draws to an end, priests of Onitsha demonstrated gratitude to God with a thanksgiving mass at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke concelebrated with the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha and priests of the Archdiocese.
In his opening remarks,the Archbishop reminded all that the church dedicated the day to Saint Lucy,a virgin who was murdered while defending her virginity.
The Archbishop also expressed gratitude to God for all His mercies to the priests, families and other lay faithful.
The Archbishop prayed for the Tansi Solidarity Movement and for his quick canonisation.
While delivering the homily,the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Denis Isizoh called on priests to examine themselves thoroughly in order to make amends where they made mistakes.
According to Bishop Isizoh,God has given mankind 24 hour daily and 365 days yearly to enable us do the right thing or make amends for our wrong doings.
He charged the priests to remember always that their achievement in their parishes and other institutions were through the instrumentality of the lay faithful and as such endeavor to be working in harmony with them.
“We have to work hard as priests and emulate Fr Tansi,the Auxiliary Bishop said.
At the end,the Archbishop and the Auxiliary Bishop took a group photograph with the priests after which they went in for a meeting.
