Every 20th October is remembered as the birthday of our beloved Archbishop and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, most Rev Valerian Maduka Okeke.
His birthday throws up an exceptional kind of excitement and ecstacy among the staff of the Archdiocesan Secretariat,Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity.
The entire staff and priests especially the lay workers see the Archbishop’s yearly birthday celebration as a divine gift, honour and privilege that put them far above others outside the system.
In a brief interview, staff of the Secretariat,Mrs Tonia Mgbeme who spoke on behalf of the workers said that indeed,it was a special privilege working in an environment where the Archbishop takes everyone as his child while the staff take him as a father.
“The Archbishop’s birthday makes us feel special because we do not only celebrate but learn a lot especially from his abiding principle of gratitude”.
According to Mrs Mgbeme,it is heartwarming seeing him in good health and physically fit while discharging his onerous bishopric mandate with a huge diocese where he has planted indelible landmarks.
As the Archbishop attains 68 years on October 20th 2021,the sweet memories of his journey into priesthood and his achievement would continue to blossom as fresh morning dew.
This thankful and appreciative expression of love by the entire workers to the Archbishop on his birthday cannot be over emphasized.
It would be recalled that during the challenging period of Covid 19 lockdown, the Archbishop assisted the workers in various ways just as he’s been doing at other times which has endeared him to all.
Happy birthday Your Excellency.
