The Onitsha Chamber of Commerce,Industry,Mines and Agriculture in it’s resolve for continuous and meaningful engagements and partnership with the Anambra state government has listed key areas which it believes that if properly harnessed would go a long way in fast tracking development in Anambra state.The President of the chamber, Chief Sir Kevin U Obieri,FCA,FCTI listed the areas during a media briefing in Onitsha last Wednesday.He listed the areas to include,developing a structured waste management system,reforming Anambra markets administration and streamlining of the state internal revenue generation process.Others are,data collation for businesses in Anambra state to help government on policy making and interventions, rehabilitation of roads and urgent need for a mass transit system.The President further called for employment creation using the Igbo Apprenticeship Model which as a non formal education system,presents a more pragmatic approach to increasing youth employment as it creates a hands on the trade experience that offers a better chance to build and acquire sustainable skill for self employment.Sir Kevin Obieri pointed out that the tourism industry in Anambra was nothing to write home about and called on the state government to seek for investors to develop the sector and also partner with some wealthy enterprenuer to develop hotels and parks as well as converting village festivals as tourist attractions and revenue yielding concerns.He commended Gov Soludo’s government for tackling touting in the state and expressed hope that government would sustain it’s policy on tout-free state to ensure smooth running of businesses in the state.
