A Catholic Priest attached to St.Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital Chaplaincy, Onitsha,Rev.Fr.Dr.Benedict Onwudinjo has advised priests to live by example and desist from living a life of opulence by unnecessary display of wealth.
Fr.Onwudinjo who was a trader at Onitsha Main Market before joining the Seminary for his journey of priesthood gave the admonition at the weekend during the celebration of his twenty-five years ordination as a priest at St.Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha.
He, however, commended some of the priests for bringing pride to the church.
The celebrant who is a lecturer at the neighbouring St.Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital College of Nursing thanked his friends, hospital staff and management of the hospital for their support throughout his years at the Chaplaincy.
Describing the celebrant as a quiet and Godly man, Manager and C.E.O, St.Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha,Rev.Fr.Dr.Izunna Okonkwo disclosed that the charitable disposition of Fr.Onwudinjo was a great testimony as he(celebrant) has chosen to live a life of charity rather than acquisition of wealth to the surprise of many.
Chief Chaplain,St Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital Chaplaincy,Rev.Fr.Boniface Okafor in an interview showered encomiums on the celebrant, adding that his lifestyle was worthy of emulation by younger priests and urged Christians to support priests in their chosen vocation.
While acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the Celebrating priest, Manager,St.Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital College of Nursing,Rev Fr.Fidelis Nwanze who was accompanied to the venue by a retinue of nursing students in an interview testified the academic prowess and dedication of Fr.Onwudinjo and wished him well in his endeavors.
Catholic Men Organization ( CMO) Chairman of the Chaplaincy,Engr.Clement Obidiwe who led a group of male dancers to the occasion disclosed that the people had enjoyed the fatherly advice of the celebrant whom he said was not perfect as a mortal,but shunned unnecessary acquisition of wealth.
Among those that attended the event were Catholic Priests, representatives of his home parish,Abatete,Rev.Fr Dr.Aroh, Chancellor of Onitsha Diocese,who represented Onitsha Catholic Archbishop,Most Rev.Dr.Valerian Okeke,staff, management of the hospital among others.
