A one day stakeholders dialogue on out of school children being organized by the ARC-P team of researchers has ended in Awka. The dialogue which held at the Conference hall of the Anambra Ministry of Education was part of the research project of the Policy Innovation Center (PIC) Abuja and an initiative of the At-Risk Children program under the Office of the Vice President. It is a research project focused on the problems confronting Basic Education.
Declaring open the dialogue, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh appreciated the At-Risk Children Program for bringing the initiative to Anambra State. Commissioner Chuma-Udeh identified societal factors including poverty as contributing to some children being out of school. Assuring the team of the Ministry of Education’s readiness to assist, Prof. Chuma-Udeh called for all hands on deck to profer solutions to the issue of out of school children.
In his comment, the leader of the research team, Mr. Charles Nwaigwe commended the enthusiasm with which Anambra State embraced the initiative. According to Mr Nwaigwe, the presence of relevant stakeholders at dialogue session was an indication of Anambra State’s acceptance of the project.
The Igwe Nnamenyi of Awkuzu, HRH, Prof. Charles Anikweze, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Barr. Nwando Obiano Ph.D, were among the dignitaries at the event.
