Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu has appointed Mr. Martins Okwor, as the Managing Director of the state Water Corporation, effective March 9.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Simon Ortuanya, made the disclosure to newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday.
Ortuanya said that the decision was the outcome of the recent rigorous interview conducted by the UK Department for International Development consultants and water engineering experts.
According to Ortuanya, the interview was conducted for 16 candidates who applied for the post of the Managing Director of the Corporation.
The SSG said that Okwor, is an indigene of Ikem in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state and an engineer by training with over 30 years of experience in the management of projects in water and sanitation.
Ortuanya added that Okwor served as the Managing Director of SATEC Nigeria, a subsidiary of SATEC UK, an international water sanitation group for 10 years.
Okwor until his appointment was the Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Belform Nigeria Ltd.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government recently constituted the Board of Water Corporation, headed by Mr. Innocent Diyoke.
