The priest in charge of Christ the King Parish (CKP) Onitsha, Very Rev Fr Godwin Chukwuemelie Okolo also known as (Ezemuo) on Sunday 28th November,2021 celebrated his 40th priestly ordination anniversary.
The event which took place at CKP Onitsha, attracted large number of parishioners ,members of his family from Nnobi, friends and well wishers.
During the mass, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, most Rev Valerian Okeke was represented by the Episcopal Vicar of Onitsha Region, Very Rev Fr John Bosco Okafor.
Fr John Bosco while speaking on behalf of the Archbishop paid tribute to fr Okolo, describing him as one who has not only come a long way into priesthood but has brought up many good priests as a Seminary teacher.
According to him, many priests have passed through him to become what they are today.
In his marathon homily,the priest in charge of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry,Uke,Rev Fr Emmanuel Obimma (Ebubemuonso)showered praises and commendations of the celebrant.
Fr Obimma confessed his close relationship with fr Okolo whom he said was his teacher at the seminary who drove the necessary discipline into him that enabled him sail into priesthood.
Fr Obimma joyously delivered a cheque of N5 million to his mentor before the huge congregants who bursted in loud ovation.
He described fr Okolo as a seasoned teacher and formator,selfless, contented and large hearted.
At the reception,fr Okolo was treated to various cultural dances, speeches and songs.
The celebrant thanked all those who made out time to attend the ocassion as well as those who made it successful.
Very Rev Fr Godwin Okolo was born on 3rd June ,1952.
After attending both junior and Senior seminary schools,he was ordained Catholic priest on July 11,1981.
As a Seminary teacher and Rector,he became a formator of repute and taught many students who have become priests today.
He hails from Nnobi in Anambra State.
