The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has been command by some traders at the Onitsha Main Market following the State government’s directive on market reopening.
Our correspondent, reports that greater number of traders turn-out at the market while few buyers showed up.
The Onitsha Main Market reputed as the single largest market in West African sub-region was closed down on thirtieth of March alongside other twenty-two major markets across the State as part of measures by the State government to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
A visit to the market revealed that traders in their numbers re-opened their shops beckoning on few buyers for patronage.
It was also observed that greater percentage of buyers and sellers complied with the directive on wearing face mask.
The newly inaugurated members of COVID-19 Task Force were seen compelling people to place their face mask properly and to observe social distancing.
Virtually all the commercial banks within the market axis had long queue of customers waiting for one transaction or the other while vehicles plying various routes conveyed buyers to their different destinations were also seen.
